pulse points

Ceramic barbie in a white lab coat
painted to perfection
nails manicured in a frenchly way
hair the product of massive amounts
and interesting combinations
of spray and mousse and gel
and a fragrant smell bullying its way
through the thick air and into my
nostrils, she eyes me up
and down, and back up again
she does not like what she sees
because what she sees has no promise
because what she sees has no value to her
because what she sees is me standing there
with my ten dollar coat and my hat-head hair
and with her smile just as fake as
I knew it would be,
she tries to sell me just what i need
to make my girl fall madly in love with me
